About the Event
In this Pan-African poetry workshop we will explore what legacy will you leave on this earth for your descendants. We will examine writers from the Black Arts Movement and Puetro Rican writers to cultivate a conversation between one’s life purpose and legacy. Join our writers circle to engage in the process of mapping out your own destiny.
About the Facilitators:
Rabih Ahmed is a Ghanaian-American Muslim poet and educator from The Bronx. Her poetry is grounded within the oral traditions and histories of the African Diaspora, binding narratives across the Atlantic. She has performed her poetry at the Apollo Theatre, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, and throughout the African diaspora. In 2017, she founded LOVE LIGHT & POETRY with a mission to utilize poetry as a liberatory tool for healing and collective transformation. To learn more about Rabih you can access her full bio here.
Teresa Rivera is a proud Boricua, born and raised in the Bronx. On her journey of self-education, she felt there was knowledge that was erased, hidden and inaccessible to her community. She made it her duty to bring the knowledge to the people. She began hosting workshops on Puerto Rican history in 2019. Follow her @teresena.
