Black Joy Resistance (Women of African Descent Only)

Through the lens of intersectionality, this workshop will honor Africana women writers who have laid the foundation for resistance and radical joy. We will engage in meditation, introspective writing exercises, examine multi-genre works by Africana women writers, and enrapture ourselves in joy as liberation praxis.

About the Facilitator: Rabih Ahmed is a Ghanaian-American Muslim poet and educator from The Bronx. She is currently a workshop facilitator and Teaching Artist in NYC. She has taught poetry and preformance at Fordham University, Community-Word Project, and Girls Inc. Rabih was first recognized by the Department of Education, where she was commissioned to South Africa to meet Nelson Mandela. Since then she has performed her poetry throughout New York State, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Brazil. To learn more about Rabih you can access her full bio here.
