All of our workshops center the well-being of the writer with the incorporation of grounding tools such as meditation, yoga, affirmation-work at the beginning or through out the workshops.
Rebirths & Reclamations
Through the process of reintroduction, we are reborn and reclaim our personal power. It is through this particular process one is released from their past and can exhibit the colors of growth. Through the works of Lauryn Hill and Lucille Clifton, we engage in introspective writing exercises to reexamine our current realities. Throughout this workshop, we abandon the attributes of ourselves that are bounded to survival and make way for the flourishing human beings we are at our essence.

Legacy Building
LOVE LIGHT & POETRY propels individuals to hone into their purposes and sacred paths. This workshop cultivates a conversation between one’s life purpose and legacy. What legacy will you leave on this earth for your descendants? In Legacy Building, writers from the Black Arts Movement are centered to model the power self-determination and aid participants with drafting a blueprint for their legacies.

This Soul Ain’t Free: A Poetic Resistance to Exploitation
In a poetic resistance to exploitation, participants examine the intricate ways in which capitalistic practices have affected the integrity of our intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships . The system of capitalism is conceptualized through the work of bell hooks and Porsha Olayiwola. This workshop offers writers a space to produce work that is a reclamation of the prolific prosperity that is a birthright of writers. In addition to addressing the marginalization of artists/writers in our economy, writers have access to financial literacy tips in this workshop.

Sister unafraid
This women-identified only workshop is a celebration of resiliency and sisterhood. Writers will journey through the quieted spaces of themselves, analyze the intersectional foundations of silence, and create works inspired by the words of Audre Lorde, Denice Frohman, and Safia Elhillo.

This workshop will highlight the givers in our intricate communities. Through the works of Kahlil Gibran and Rosamond King, we will journey through the power of reciprocity, examine the moments in which giving transitions from pleasure to exhaustion, and answer the intimate question: Do you deserve to be a giver?

Fall: A Season of Self-Preservation
In this seasonal workshop, participants explore love languages, the works of Solange and Narriyah Waheed participants. Writers will redefine self-preservation as it relates their unique lived realities. Participants will collectively decide how they will honor their emotions and protect their spirits as they enter the colder seasons of Fall and Winter.

A Bag Lady’s Release
In this women-identified only workshop*, writers examine the weighted entities barring them from ascending and taking off. This workshop critically analyzes the system of patriarchy and the gravity of its impact in our communities. In honor of self-love and expansion, writers will interrogate the invisible bags attached to their bodies. As a collective, participants release through breath work, performance, and poetics.

Dream Catcher Poetics: A Dream Manifestation Poetry Workshop
This workshop honors dreams silenced and deferred. Participants transfer the nightly dreams swinging above their heads into reality in the morning. Through the work of Carolyn Malachi and Langston Hughes participants will reawaken their imagination and hone into manifesting their dreams through the power of poetry.
